November General Meeting

Our next General Meeting:

November 10, 7-8:30pm

Let's face it. There's a lot going on right now! There's a lot going on globally. There's a lot going on nationally. And there's a lot going on in Oakland. It can be unsettling!

Some of us, naturally, will just go along for the ride because it's hard to know what to do! Others will step up toward the helm to help steer the course. Personally, I find stepping up to be more grounding and fulfilling. I'll argue that the most effective way to help steer the course of change is to get involved in neighborhood governance. It's a lot easier to impact day-to-day life on our own blocks than it is in someone else's neighborhood hundreds or even thousands of miles away.

If you live in Central Oakland and would like to be a part of local change, a good way to get started is to attend our next Beat 22X Neighborhood Council general meeting on November 10 at 7pm. We'll be meeting virtually.

Meeting highlights:

  • "We Keep Us Safe" -- How can we harden our homes and neighborhoods to crime?
  • Community groups -- Who is doing what in our neighborhood?
  • Local merchants circle discussion -- How can local merchants support each other?

We will also hear from our Community Resource Officer, Gustavo Plasencia, and a representative from Councilmember Sheng Thao's office.
